Everyday Usability 27: lost in reservation

I wanted to make a reservation for a bicycle on a website, but nothing happened. There was no pop-up and nothing appeared to change on the website. The first idea was that it may results from my JavaScript blocker. Still, after deactivation nothing happened when I clicked on the reservation button. The second idea was that it may results from the type of browser that I use. Still, after trying out two other browsers nothing happened. I got really frustrated. If the bicycle would not have looked really good I would have long left the website.

By accident I saw a small Icon appearing in the header of the website showing a “shopping basket” with a number in it. I clicked on it and there where my reservations for the bike. Each one for the many times that I tried to reserve it.

Please give feedback where the user expects it and always give feedback to user actions. The header of the website where the shopping basket appeared was not even visible from the reservation button. Also, if the action is a reservation why does it appear in a “shopping basket”?
